Celebrating 1 Year

Yesterday marked the 1-year anniversary of the publication date for my book, Building a Trauma-informed Restorative School: Skills and Approaches to Improving Culture and Behavior.   What a year this has been.  The book has done better than expected both by me and the amazing team at Jessica Kingsley Publishers.  It outsold the 2-year sales projections in the first 10 months.  In its first year, it sold over 4,600 copies worldwide.  That doesn’t sound like a lot until you realize the niche audience for this is mostly educators.  The majority of have sold in the US then other English-speaking territories – the UK, Australia, and Ireland, but we’ve also seen purchases in Singapore, India, China and Slovenia.   As of today, Amazon in the US has over 34 ratings for the book all of which are 4 and 5 stars.  The reviews written are all positive and encouraging.  For me, this shows how much the idea of adding a trauma-informed lens to the work of restorative justice is energizing people around the globe.

I wanted to take a moment to thank all the people who took the time and invested it into reading this book.  I want to thank all the people who helped promote this book, bought it for their schools, or gifted it to an educator in your life.  I want to thank the folks who invited me to talk about this book and the work on their podcasts, especially RJ on the Rise and the Trauma-informed Educators Network.   I want to say thank you to the amazing team at Jessica Kingsley Publishers who have worked to get this book into the right hands.  (Stephen, Carolyn, and Julia I am grateful for your work!).   Special Thanks to Marg Thorsborne for her endless support of this book!
