My name is Joe Brummer and I was born in Philadelphia, Pa., raised in Southern New Jersey, and now reside in Rhode Island. I started playing the piano around five or six years old. I went on to play in a number of bands including Ricochet in southern New Jersey, back in the early 1990's. Later, I went on to play in a cover band in Rhode Island and southern New England called Sweet Surrender. We were a tribute the the artists of "Lilith Fair." We played Shawn Colvin, K.D. Lang, and of course of one of my favorite artist, Sarah McLachlan. I was also part of the folk duo "Brummer Tuthill". In the early 1990's, when I was recording my first demo at AKA Recording in Franklinville, New Jersey, I took an immediate interest in hanging out in the studio, meeting and playing with other musicians. I started to work and learn about recording and sound from engineer wizard, Tom Hollenden. I also learned much about how bands work, the politics that don't work, and how to sip your beer without the microphone picking it up. I now live in RI and have my own home studio where I continue to write music and record when I can. I have taken a new interest in SOUNDFONTS and MIDI. It's not the most high tech studio, but it works for me. The results of which can be found on the music/video page above. I also enjoy doing photography and video. All of the photographs and music on this site are for sale. Please contact me if you are interested in prints, recordings, or have an interest in recording one of my songs. I have over the past several years been doing lots of writing, soul searching and activism. From that, I have been trained in Gandhian and Kingian Nonviolence, Marshall Rosenberg's Nonviolent Communication and also more recently, mediation. I am a firm believer in peace. I am also an atheist who feels scared that the world is going in a scary direction at the hands of our various beliefs in god. Please feel free to read up on my thoughts on the blog or contact me if you have questions.... The blog is here (but running slow)
